Florida Water + 7 Uses
Often, I get asked about the usage of Florida Water. The questions always start with: What is it and what does it do? Those questions are usually followed with a question asked in a joking tone: Does it come Florida?
Sorry to disappoint, but Florida Water is not water that comes from the state of Florida. It has a far more enriching history than that and has found its place in practices that range from Hoodoo, Vodou, Santeria and Wicca to everyday spiritual practices across the world. Named after the Fountain of Youth and with the imagery of peace and paradise on the label, Florida Water has a floral and citrus scent that is both invigorating and mystifying. It is most commonly used in spiritual workings, rituals, purifications and offerings. Considered a sacred cologne, Florida Water contains various spiritual benefits.
Cleansing people and spaces and serving as a link between soul and spirit are just a couple of these benefits. Though I will be sharing seven spiritual uses for Florida Water, it can also be used as a simple perfume or cologne with the intention to protect, banish negative energy and attract good will and good fortune. It can be prayed over and worn as an extension of your prayers. It’s truly flexible.
Seven Uses:
use in spray bottle to cleanse the space, yourself, tarot/oracle cards, crystals (make sure it’s safe!) and other spiritual tools
when moving into or entering a new space, use Florida Water to anoint all windows, doors, openings, etc. to get rid of the old energy and welcome the new
add to loads of laundry and floor washes to cleanse from negative or stagnant energy that has accumulated and bless your space and clothes
dip your feet in a bowl of it, wipe down your soles, or add it to your pedicure routine to connect with the guidance of spirit and to align you with walking in your anointing
anoint your head with it or add it to your hair washing routine to clear your crown of spiritual debris and outside influence, anxieties, negative or heavy thoughts, mindsets that no longer serve you and doubts
anoint a dollar bill with cinnamon on it and place it in your wallet to welcome abundance, luck and good fortune
wash your hands and/or feet with it after a long day or after a particularly heavy working or reading to rid yourself of said energy and rejuvenate your spirit
